Tips For Getting Better As You Get Older

Five Tips To Prevent Aging
These days there is a big market for products that help prevent aging. But the fact is that you can probably do the most good just by making some simple lifestyle changes. Here are 5 things you can do that will help you look and feel younger.

1. Get Your Zzzzís. Iíve never understood why some people stay up late at night and then canít get up in the morning. Studies show that most people need at least 8 hours of sleep (some more and some less) in order for our bodies to regenerate. Despite this many people zone in on the boob tube until all hours of the night. Getting enough sleep should be an important part of your anti-aging-regimen - try turning off the TV and going to bed earlier. Also, donít eat for at least 3 hours prior to bed time and donít exercise for at least 1 Ĺ hours before bed.

2. Exercise. Exercise will help maintain muscle tone and flexibility as you age as well as improve overall fitness, help protect against cardiovascular disease, and keep you feeling younger. Exercise will get blood pumping and oxygen circulating throughout the body which can even help keep the brain in good shape. A convenient way to get the required exercise is to take up walking. Walking is a great cardiovascular activity and is shown to be life extending.

3. Water. Your body is 60% water and daily activities deplete this resource which must be replenished. In fact, many people are walking around in a state of mild dehydration and donít even realize it. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day - more is better! Having enough water will keep your vital organs hydrated and in good working order. It can also help your digestive process run smoothly and prevent constipation. Last but not least, it will help your skin look supple and vibrant.

4. Nutrition. Nutrition is an important way to prevent aging and you should be eating a properly balanced diet with the bulk of your foods being fruits and vegetables. Avoid red meat and stick to fish if you can. Ditch the white bread and go with whole grains. The fruits and veggies provide your body with important antioxidants that fight free radicals which are a cause of age related illness and disease. Eating right will help you feel and look better and give you tons of energy so you can do all those things you loved to do in your youth.

5. Distress. Everyone has stress in their life, and if you can learn to control it, then you will find your life is a lot better. One thing you should do is get organized. Write a to-do list and fill it with everything you need to do that day, then check them off one by one. This way you will avoid having a lot of ďstuffĒ running around in your head. Once you have it down, you donít have to spend so much time thinking about it. You have more time to get it done.

Taking these measures can also help the body deal with temporary illnesses like the common cold and flu. While you canít really prevent aging, you can do a lot of things that can make aging something to look forward to instead of something to dread. The best thing you can do for yourself is to be sure you are in good health and feeling great - that way you can enjoy each day, no matter how old you are.
